Matt Harris is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work sits at the intersection of discipline and raw creativity. An ECMA Media Excellence nominee and Music Nova Scotia nominee, Matt has spent decades refining a visual language that is as structured as it is soulful. His journey is unlike most in the creative industry, built on the foundation of a 25-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces. Serving as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer for the PPCLI, Matt traveled the world with the military, yet he always kept one foot firmly planted in the music scene. Throughout his years of service, he was a constant fixture in the industry—working behind the scenes and on the stage as a musician, promoter, and producer.

From the Darkroom to the Global Stage

Matt’s formal education in imagery began in 2006 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where he studied the traditional alchemy of film. He spent years in the solitude of the darkroom, mastering the tactile arts of development, burning, and dodging. These classic techniques remain the heartbeat of his digital work today. While his early career was built on the technical demands of weddings and Maritimes-based events, Matt’s vision was truly shaped by the horizon. Moving across Canada, living in Europe, and spending significant time in the cultural hub of Montreal allowed him to observe the world through a diverse lens. By the time he returned home to Nova Scotia in 2023, he had developed a sophisticated, global perspective that he now pours into every project.
