Matt Harris, C.D. - A Legacy of Service, A Future of Vision

Matt Harris is a photographer, filmmaker, and creative director based in Pictou, Nova Scotia, and the owner of LensFlare Photography. With over 20 years of experience, he specializes in storytelling through photography, video, and graphic design.

Matt’s creative path was built through a unique mix of military service, music, and visual storytelling. He served 25 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, rising to senior supervisory roles where discipline, leadership, and project management became second nature. He also spent more than a decade managing music projects, leading LevyStep Music Group and the Shawn Oates Band, and working as a festival promoter for BabZee’s Entertainment and Symphony of Sound (FredRock Festival, North Rocks the Bay, Molson Canada Showcases, CFB Gagetown, Halifax and Edmonton concerts for the troops, King of the Stage). Matt served as the West Coast and Central representative for TruRoot Cymbals, a division of Istanbul Mehmet Cymbals and Turkish Cymbals based in Turkey. TruRoot artists: (Ben Bradly, Dany Miles, Christian Tanna, Kurt Duhl, Phil Maloney, and Pat McGee).

His photography foundation began in 2006 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where he studied film photography and darkroom techniques. That hands-on training continues to influence his digital work today. He later earned a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from Carleton University, further strengthening his ability to lead creative and production-based projects.

Matt’s experience also includes work on film sets, small extra roles, participation in 48-hour film festivals, and composing for the “Dead to the World” pilot and “No Return” film with Vancouver Film School. His broader creative work has earned nominations for Music Nova Scotia and ECMA Media Excellence, and his artwork has been sold through Studio 116.

Matt’s work has taken him across Canada, Europe, and Montreal, and he has collaborated with international production companies in film and media including Business Goose Studios in Belgium, Gradual Upgrade Productions in Fredericton, Tell Tale Productions in Halifax, and Cestou necestou in Slovakia. Whether behind the camera or on set, he brings experience, creativity, and a calm, professional presence to every project.
